Dr. rer. nat. Tobias Ehnis

German Patent Attorney
European Patent Attorney
European Trademark Attorney
European Design Attorney

Tobias Ehnis was born in Karlsruhe, Germany in 1965. After completing his studies in biochemistry at the Free University of Berlin, he worked as a scientist in medical research at the University Hospital Benjamin Franklin, Berlin. His research centered on cell biology, analysis of receptor-ligand-interactions as well as purification and characterization of receptors and their ligands.

After obtaining his PhD in 1996, Dr. Ehnis accepted a position as scientist at the medical department of the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg. His research work concentrated on the areas of molecular biology, immunology and apoptosis. Ehnis published his results in numerous scientific journals. He is also inventor of an immunological detection assay.

Since 1998 Ehnis has been working in the field of intellectual property. In 1999 he joined the patent law firm Dr.-Ing. Wolfgang Gassner and in 2001 he passed the patent bar exam. In 2002 Dr. Gassner and Dr. Ehnis founded the patent law firm Dr. Gassner & Partner.

Ehnis is German Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney. He is also registered to practice before the European Union Intellectual Property Office (European office for the registration of trademarks and design patents in the European Union) in Alicante, Spain. The main areas of his work are the drafting, filing and prosecution of patent applications, in particular within the fields of biochemistry, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, molecular biology, genetic engineering, biotechnology, diagnostics, pharmaceutics, biology and medicine.
